Checkpoint Charlie was the most famous Cold War border crossing between East and West Berlin from 1961-1989. Located on Friedrichstraße, it served as the designated crossing point for foreign tourists and Allied forces during the Berlin Wall era. Today it features a reconstructed guardhouse, the renowned Checkpoint Charlie Museum documenting daring escape attempts, and memorial walls that preserve this pivotal Cold War history for over 850,000 annual visitors.
