Frankfurt

Frankfurt am Main is Germany's financial center and home to the European Central Bank. The city is known for its impressive skyline of skyscrapers, earning it the nickname "Mainhattan". Despite its modern appearance, Frankfurt has a beautiful historic center with the Römerberg square and town hall (Römer), as well as the recently reconstructed old town. The city is bisected by the Main River, along which visitors can enjoy walking paths and outdoor cafes. Frankfurt is a major transportation hub and hosts numerous international trade fairs, including the Frankfurt Book Fair. Local specialties include "Grüne Soße" (green sauce), apple wine, and Frankfurt Crown Cake (Frankfurter Kranz).
