Cannstatter Volksfest

The Cannstatter Volksfest, also known as the Stuttgart Beer Festival, is the second-largest beer festival in Germany after Munich's Oktoberfest. Held annually from late September to early October in Stuttgart's Cannstatter Wasen area, this 16-day festival attracts over 4 million visitors, making it one of the world's largest folk festivals. Founded in 1818 as an agricultural show to help farmers recover from the devastating effects of the 1816 "Year Without a Summer," the festival has evolved into a massive celebration featuring: - Traditional beer tents serving local Swabian and Bavarian specialties - One of Europe's largest traveling funfairs with over 300 attractions - Traditional folk music and dancing - Regional food specialties including Sauerbraten, Maultaschen, and Spätzle - Wine tents featuring local Württemberg wines The festival grounds span 35 hectares and feature both traditional beer tents and modern carnival rides.
