À propos de cette destination
The Greatest Small Show on Earth
Located in the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district of Hamburg, Miniatur Wunderland is a destination that captivates the imagination of visitors of all ages. It is, quite simply, the world's largest model railway exhibition, but that description hardly does it justice. This is a meticulously crafted miniature world, a sprawling and astonishingly detailed universe that covers over 1,600 square meters.
Mind-Boggling Statistics
The exhibition features more than 16 kilometers of track, 1,300 trains, 100,000 moving vehicles, and over 280,000 tiny, hand-painted figures. The exhibition is divided into different sections that recreate locations from around the world in stunning detail, from the Swiss Alps and Italy to Las Vegas and, of course, a sprawling model of Hamburg itself.
Interactive Magic
What makes it so magical is the incredible attention to detail and the interactive elements. The system simulates day and night every 15 minutes, with thousands of tiny lights turning on as "dusk" falls. Visitors can push buttons to trigger events, from a chocolate factory producing real tiny chocolates to a space shuttle launch. It is an immersive and enchanting experience that celebrates engineering, artistry, and a playful sense of wonder.
Continuous Growth
The exhibition continues to expand, with new sections being added regularly. Recent additions include a detailed model of Monaco and the French Riviera, and future plans include South America and Asia. Each section takes years to plan and build, with the creators obsessing over every tiny detail to ensure authenticity and entertainment.
Practical Information
Miniatur Wunderland is immensely popular, and queues can be very long. It is essential to book tickets online well in advance to reserve a specific time slot. The attraction is open late, and visiting on a weekday evening can be a less crowded experience. Plan to spend at least 3-4 hours to fully appreciate the exhibition.
